NEWS! - posted by Franki Burke on 13/05/2008

It's working again! After pretty much a whole year of it not working, now it is - it's always the bloody way isn't it!? Grrrr

Well Into The Woods starts tomorrow! Very exciting! And it's all completely sold out, which is amazing!

Official Exec handover happens this week which means that from next week onwards Hannah Schmitz and her team of flying monkeys will be in control for the foreseeable future...(be afraid children...)

MTW tee-shirts are in the process of being sorted out - there is still time to get one if you so desire, drop me a line on exec@musictheatrewarwick.co.uk

I think that's all for now. This may be my last post ever (which is ridiculous since it's only my second one...stupid technology...)

Bye for now!

Whoop whoop!
Term hasn't even started yet and we're already planning a performance!
If you're around on the 26th September at the University Open Day, you can come and watch us rehearse at 2pm in the Ensemble Room (Music Centre, located in Warwick Arts Centre), then come and see us sing our little hearts out at 3pm in the Marketplace (Student's Union).
If any society members are going to be around that day and are interested in performing, could you please contact us at exec@musictheatrewarwick.co.uk

Thanks!

The Guardians Of The Theatre Museum - posted by Iain Marsh on 07/12/2006

Hi guys,

Just in case you're interested about there being a theatre museum...

At a meeting well attended by luminaries from across the theatre industry last week, a new organisation was put together: The Guardians of the Theatre Museum. There are many different ideas about what a Theatre Museum should look like, but there seems to be a consensus that there should be one. If you support this idea, please add your name on their website - this commits you to nothing, it adds your name to a petition The Guardians hope will be 100,000 names strong by 7th January when the museum will close to the public.

For one night only (the Tuesday) you can get tickets for just £5 (usually £18). So sign up now in the Music Centre.

A Lovely Email From An Old Pres! - posted by Iain Marsh on 04/11/2006

Hey everyone.

I just received a lovely email from an old MTW president, which I wanted to share with you all!

So if you're interested, read on...

Dear Owain and the rest of the exec,

I was just idly surfing the net while nursing a hangover this morning when for some reason I stumbled over your website. I really couldn't believe it. I was at Warwick from 1998 to 2003 (I was a sabb - that's why so long) and during that time spent about 3 years on the exec including president 2000-2001 and directed and performed in many shows I recognise on the production history. Looking at your site brings back a lot of memories and makes me really proud that what the society gave me is clearly giving a whole new generation the same sort of thing. That is, a great bunch of talented people doing what they love, a great group of friends, confidence to be yourself and to constantly improve. It's just fantastic to see the society is still thriving and people are loving it. I spent way more time at Warwick doing theatre stuff than I spent doing my degree, and you look like the sort of people who are doing that too! Fantastic that you've got two shows in the theatre in one year - you should really enjoy it because it's an absolute privilege to have that space. Your pictures from The Wild Party look absolutely fantastic. Also it's great to see that Lapworth is still going - I knew Dave Botterill well and the Lapworth people were always so nice to us. I recognise the benches outside the pub (The Boot?) - we had many a drunken sing there. A few familiar faces too - Gemma, Nadim, James T.

So I know this is really random but thought I'd drop you a line just to say how brilliant it looks as if you're doing. Keep it up, and keep it going for a whole new bunch of people after you've gone.

All the best,

Alan (Reiss)
